The "no-show" — the booking that is never honoured — is a scourge affecting every establishment.
It stems from inconsiderate guests who either pay no real attention to the place they have booked (the lesser evil), or never receive a confirmation (do check your spam folder, and if nothing arrives, don't hesitate to call the restaurant to confirm), or else book several restaurants for the same evening to be sure of a table and decide at the last minute — without, of course, calling the others back to cancel.
Until recently, Mofusan was barely affected by this.
For some time now, the affliction has reached us.
The passion for cooking, the creation and the preparation are all-consuming, and we pour our souls into the food and the experience.
Sadly, when a table neither turns up nor cancels, all that work comes to nothing, and without the pleasure of sharing it with the guest.
The consequences: wasted produce, wasted time, and the impossibility of offering the table to other guests who genuinely did want to come.
For this reason, and despite our reluctance — for we have both respect and trust in our guests — we are obliged to take card details for future bookings.
There is nothing to worry about: no charge will be taken unless you fail to appear without notice, and no cancellation has been made 8 hours before the booking.
Guests who no-show without warning will be blacklisted as a matter of course.
It saddens us to resort to this, but it is a matter of protecting our restaurant, and of allowing genuine, committed guests to enjoy the Mofusan experience.
Thank you for your understanding — we shall be delighted to welcome you just as warmly as ever.
